Clark (100W) to Clybourn, Division (1200N) to Armitage (2000N)

Designated a Chicago landmark district in 1977 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, this neighborhood is rich in history and tradition. Containing some of the most appealing streets in town, this community has made strong attempts to preserve the original character and integrity of the neighborhood. You can see the history reflected in the style of architecture and the style of the neighborhood. Its commitment to the arts is seen in the annual Old Town Art Fair that takes place in June. There is an array of theatres including the Steppenwolf Theatre and renowned improvisational comedy theatre Second City where John Belushi, Bill Murray, Chris Farley and Shelley Long got their starts. Among friendly and comfortable neighborhood restaurants and bars are renovated Victorian frame cottages, brownstones and Queen Anne style homes.
